I don’t believe the Crypto Audit Report from DACS.io, is necessary for this SMSF as it does not have a Ledger or Trezor wallet.
If you have the Swyftx Report which confirms the holding amount of bitcoin and the SMSF’s name can be confirmed as holding the “asset”, then that is all you will be able to obtain to confirm the investment.
As the investment is under a custodian arrangement with SwyftX, it means that the assets are not directly held by the super fund and therefore it is not possible to directly verify the cryptocurrency assets being held or the transactions involving the cryptocurrency assets. Therefore, we would typically seek to obtain an audit report that has been prepared over an organisation’s internal control environment as a means of obtaining assurance over the internal controls within the organisation around assets held and the transactions that take place. As there is no document available that provides information about SwyftX’s internal control environment, this means that we are unable to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence on the underlying assets and transactions being reported by SwyftX.
As a result, a qualified audit opinion, in Part A of the audit report is noted regarding the cryptocurrency assets being held through SwyftX and a note in made in the ML to bring the concerns of unmonitored cryptocurrency exchange to the attention of the trustees.
